This image was taken in Berlin-Friedrichshain near the Modersohn Bridge. A steel pipe has run here for many years, spanning the driveway to an industrial site. The mirror was installed so that vehicles entering could see the premises. My focus, however, was on the interplay of trees and leaves with the pipe and the mirror. Over the years, trees and shrubs have wrapped themselves around the pipe. This interaction created the motif: the steel pipe itself becomes a tree trunk, and the leafy canopy forms a crown for it.
