In Rostock, at the mouth of the Unterwarnow near the Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt district, this trash bin reminded me of the human urge to head for the water. In this little narrative, though, the bin can’t actually reach the river—even though the riverside steps seem just a short roll away—because it’s chained to a lamppost. Still, its front wheels have managed to conquer the first step and point themselves toward the water. Perhaps, though, it’s the lamppost that’s saving the trash bin from something worse?!
